RIMOWA DESIGN PRIZE 2024 - WINNING PROJECTS

With the ever-evolving subject of mobility as an ongoing theme, the second edition of the RIMOWA Design Prize has now concluded.

Celebrated in a ceremony at the James Simon Gallery in Berlin on April 29th, the Maison congratulates Janne Kreimer, who was selected as the winner after the careful consideration of the prize’s esteemed jury. Additionally, Daniela Lindenberga earned the special mention prize.

JANNE KREIMER — WINNER

ANHALT UNIVERSITY

PROJECT: "RO”

RO is a therapeutic piece of wearable technology that activates the parasympathetic nervous system for the purpose of relieving anxiety through deep pressure stimulation and activation of acupressure points.

A system of inflatable soft robots allows for individual adjustment in intensity. As the localization of acupressure points can vary based on body shape, Ro uses body scan technology to ensure precise alignment of the soft robots.

SRH BERLIN UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

PROJECT: "IXO”

IXO is a wearable safety device that helps combat street harassment. The device utilizes an integrated camera, flashlight, microphone, and speaker to threaten accountability in public spaces and provide reassurance to the user of their safety.

Given the rise of hate-motivated crimes in Germany, IXO strives to enhance user safety while on the move by recording social interactions and alerting authorities when necessary. Recordings are automatically stored on the user’s mobile device, providing access to valuable evidence when needed.
