Guarantee

5-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY ON TRAVEL AND BUSINESS LUGGAGE. UNITED STATES AND CANADA ONLY.

RIMOWA provides a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty on the product you purchase in accordance with the conditions below to the final consumer when purchased from RIMOWA or an authorized RIMOWA dealer (the warranty period). The warranty period will commence from the date the product is purchased from RIMOWA or an authorized RIMOWA dealer provided the final consumer provides proof of purchase and otherwise will commence from the date of manufacture as determined by RIMOWA.

This warranty only applies if the usability of the product is materially adversely affected by a fault or defect in material or workmanship in the manufacturing process present at the time of delivery to the final consumer (a defect).
This warranty does not apply, however, if the usability is affected by abrasion, improper use or externally occurring forces (particularly fight or transport damage, e.g. deformation, cracks, body breakages, scratches, wear etc.) or by liquids (please observe the care instructions attached below). This warranty also excludes damage and defects related to or caused by: normal wear and tear, ordinary deviations in size, weight or quality, misuse or abuse, improper use or maintenance, failure to observe care instructions and manuals, negligence or accident by any party other than RIMOWA (including authorized RIMOWA dealers and carriers). RIMOWA recommends having the product inspected by a third party immediately after handling by a carrier (e.g. courier, airline or railway company) and immediately reporting any damage to the carrier who may provide insurance against such damage.
Among other things, some product series are characterized by special leather fittings, particularly on the handle and at the corners of the suitcase. Leather is a natural product that can change, discolour or fade, particularly under the influence of skin contact, light and water, but also through the use of unsuitable cleaning agents, post-purchase impregnation and textile dyes. Heat and dehydration can lead to the formation of cracks or tears in the leather. These occurrences are not covered by the warranty. Any expendable parts, such as batteries and light bulbs, of any kind, which are installed in the product or included in delivery shall also be excluded from the warranty. Some product series have been equipped with the RIMOWA Electronic Tag. Malfunction or the disruption of servers for storage and transmission of data or errors in connection with the use of the app (airline or RIMOWA) do not apply as a material adverse effect to the use of the RIMOWA Electronic Tag and are not covered by this warranty.

To make a claim against this warranty, immediately contact a RIMOWA service centre or an authorized RIMOWA dealer of the defect within the warranty period and deliver the product and the completed certificate of warranty included with this warranty and/or original proof of purchase. You can find locations of RIMOWA service centres and authorized RIMOWA dealers on our website: www.rimowa.com. RIMOWA will then review the claim and decide whether the defect is covered by this warranty. If RIMOWA determines the claim is covered, RIMOWA will, at its discretion, repair or replace the product at its own expense and pay the return shipment costs. You are responsible for the cost of delivering the product to the RIMOWA service centre or authorized RIMOWA dealer. If RIMOWA opts to replace the product, RIMOWA may replace the product with a comparable successor product. If RIMOWA determines the claim is not covered, you will be responsible for any return shipment costs. All parts removed in the repair of the product shall be the property of RIMOWA upon their replacement. Any product replaced shall be the property of RIMOWA upon delivery of the replacement product. The repair or replacement of the product shall not extend this warranty and this warranty will only apply to the repaired or replaced product for the balance of the original warranty period. THIS WARRANTY IS YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AGAINST RIMOWA. IN NO EVENT WILL RIMOWA OR ITS SERVICE CENTRES BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL (E.G. FINANCIAL LOSSES), SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY OR OTHER SIMILAR T YPES OF DAMAGES. ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED. RIMOWA’S TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY YOU FOR THE PRODUCT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AS SHOWN ON THE PROOF OF PURCHASE OR, IF PROOF OF PURCHASE IS NOT PROVIDED, TO RIMOWA’S SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE FOR THE PRODUCT IN YOUR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE AT THE TIME THE CLAIM IS MADE. HOW U.S. LAW APPLIES TO THIS WARRANTY (FOR U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY). This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. U.S. federal warranty law prohibits the disclaimer of implied warranties, so the above disclaimer of implied warranties may not apply to you. If the disclaimer of implied warranties does not apply to you, the duration of the applicable implied warranties is restricted to the 5-year duration of this warranty.

To claim our guarantee, you can contact our customer service line at (312) 635-6607 or otherwise contact RIMOWA boutique or an authorized RIMOWA service centers of any defect within the guarantee period and hand over or send the product and the completed certificate of guarantee or original proof of purchase.


If your suitcase has been registered online, your proof of purchase is no longer needed for warranty reasons.You can find RIMOWA boutiques and authorized service centers on our website www.rimowa.com.


RIMOWA will then determine whether the defect is covered by the guarantee. If this is the case, RIMOWA will repair or replace the product. For this, RIMOWA will cover the costs, incurred including the return shipment. Shipping costs to the repair center are borne by the purchaser.


In order to preserve the fine condition of your aluminium or polycarbonate suitcase, please note the following recommendations: To remove dust or dirt, use a cloth or non-abrasive sponge dampened with clean water. Any stubborn or sticky residue can be removed using a simple alcohol such as Isopropyl. This is widely available as pre-soaked wipes and safe to use on your RIMOWA.

For any light scuffs or scrapes on the surface of your case, use RIMOWA’s wax-free polish & repair paste (sadly not recommended for use on our matte finish). We like to think of any deep dents or scratches as patina, as they cannot be removed.

To clean any leather components, use a mild cleaning agent and a soft cloth to gently remove any surface dirt. Occasionally, it’s a good idea to treat the leather with a conventional, neutrally colored leather maintenance product.

Although it may seem tempting at the time, using any of the following will damage your RIMOWA: scouring detergents, abrasive cloths or sponges, window cleaning agents, vinegar-based cleaners and disinfectants, solvents, dilutions and aggressive alcohols, petroleum distillates or nail polish remover. Be gentle.

When registering online you benefit from our global 5-year manufacturer’s guarantee in accordance with the conditions written in our guarantee manual. If your suitcase has been registered online, your proof of purchase is no longer needed for warranty reasons.

Rimowa Electronic Tag feature is fully compliant with global aviation standards (IATA and ICAO).


The Rimowa Electronic Tag is provided with:


Two alkaline AAA/micro (LR03) 1.5V alkaline batteries, which are NOT rechargeable and NOT lithium.


Both batteries can be removed if required.


The display is a black and white e-ink display.


When changing the batteries we recommend using only new alkaline batteries.

Each Rimowa suitcase has ist advantages and each client is unique. But we have some recommendations for you.


When usually travelling for one or two nights, our Cabin S model might fit best your needs. If you are looking for some more space, our Cabin suitcases will be perfect for a two to three nights trip while our Cabin Plus model gives you enough space for a three to four night trip.


If you are looking for a suitcase that is made for a five day trip, we would suggest you purchase our Check-In M models whereas our Check-In L models have the perfect size for an up to ten day trip. Should you plan longer trips, our Sports models will be perfect for you. A Trunk can fit accommodate up to a two-week trip and our Trunk Plus will give you even more time to relax.

What is Skyhour?
Skyhour is a unique travel platform that offers credit vouchers for airline travel (“Skyhours”) which can be used to book air travel time. One Skyhour voucher translates into one hour in the sky (coach or economy class) and can be used on any of the more than 350 airlines available through their Services platform.

What is a skyhour?
A Skyhour is a time-based credit voucher used to book coach class flights through the Skyhour platform. Skyhours allow you to travel coach at anytime, anywhere with the more than 350 airlines on the Skyhour Services platform. Skyhour reserves the right to determine which flights are available to be purchased with Skyhour vouchers. Skyhours may be deactivated in Skyhour’s discretion if not used within 12 months and Skyhour will contact you to refund the value of the unused Skyhours or will donate the value of the Skyhours to charity; please see the Skyhour Terms and Conditions here


How do I purchase my RIMOWA + Skyhour suitcase?
This unique offer is available for purchase only on RIMOWA’s US site for clients with a US shipping address (excluding Puerto Rico, any US territory or other Commonwealth of the United States). RIMOWA will be providing the Original Cabin Case and 12 inspirational city stickers. Skyhour will be providing the Skyhours in accordance with the terms of their Platform. Although the price for a Skyhour voucher may be subject to change at any time, the RIMOWA + Skyhour suitcase offer guarantees you 12 Skyhour vouchers per month for 12 months, or a total of 144 Skyhour vouchers.

How do I redeem my Skyhours after I purchase?
You will receive a confirmation email with a unique skycode within 72 hours of your purchase. A skycode is a unique (single use) promotion code associated with your purchase of the RIMOWA + Skyhour suitcase. Click the button in your confirmation email to be taken to the Skyhours website at skyhour.com where you must create your profile using your individual skycode. Alternatively, if you are already a Skyhour customer, go to the Skyhour website, click the left-hand drop-down navigation icon, select “My Profile” and then “Payment”. You will be able to add your skycode in the “Promo Code” box.


Your initial 12 Skyhour vouchers will automatically be credited to your Skyhour account after your Skyhour profile is created and your skycode is used. You will receive an additional 12 Skyhour vouchers every 30 days thereafter for a further 11 months (for a total of 144 Skyhour vouchers).


If you do not use your unique skycode within 12 months of purchasing the RIMOWA + Skyhour case, Skyhour will refund the total promotional value of the 144 Skyhour vouchers to you. The RIMOWA + Skyhour case offer is not otherwise able to be returned, exchanged or refunded.


Skyhour vouchers are not redeemable for cash, are non-returnable and non-redeemable.


Skyhour is solely responsible for the fulfilment of your skycode and any Skyhours.


I haven’t received my skycode. What do I do?
If you don’t receive your unique skycode within 72 hours, please reach out to the RIMOWA customer services team. You can do this through our customer service or by phone 312-635-6607.


Can I use skyhours to book flights outside of the Skyhour platform?
No. You will need to use the Skyhour booking platform to book travel using Skyhour vouchers, either on the Skyhour app or website. Skyhour reserves the right to determine which flights are available to be purchased with Skyhour vouchers. Skyhour vouchers are for coach or economy class travel only.


Can I purchase First-Class or Business-Class tickets on Skyhour?
Only coach or economy class tickets are available with Skyhour vouchers. You can upgrade to Business or First Class for an additional fee through Skyhour or directly with the airline. You are responsible for any additional fees associated with an upgraded class of travel.


Are there any black-out dates for travel?
The Skyhour booking platform has 94% of all flight inventory available on their Services platform. There are no blackout dates with Skyhours but flight availability may vary based on the airline and destination. However, any services you encounter beyond payment and acquisition of Skyhour vouchers and airline tickets that cause a blackout in travel, including service at the airport, transportation in connection with the airport, flight delays, baggage delays, lost baggage, cargo or overhead restrictions, TSA interactions, and any other terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings, are solely between you and such organizations and/or individuals.


Will the skyhours expire?
No. However, if any Skyhour vouchers are not used within 12 months of their deposit to your Skyhour account, then Skyhour reserves the right, without prior notice, to deactivate those Skyhour vouchers. Upon deactivation, Skyhour will contact you to refund the price of each Skyhour to the original method of payment. If Skyhour is unable to refund the amount to the payment method you used to purchase the Skyhour voucher, then you authorize Skyhour to donate that amount to a charity of their choice.


If you do not use your unique skycode within 12 months of purchasing the RIMOWA + Skyhour case, Skyhour will refund the total promotional value of the 144 Skyhour vouchers to you. The RIMOWA + Skyhour case offer is not otherwise able to be returned, exchanged or refunded.


Can I book travel for myself and a companion?
Yes, Skyhour vouchers can be used for booking flights for both you and one or more companions using the Skyhour Services platform. You will have control over all further details – you can fly any date, alone or with companions, to any destination with the more than 350 airlines available on the Skyhour platform. Can I gift my skyhours?
Yes, you can transfer Skyhour vouchers to another person within the Skyhour website and app. However, Skyhour vouchers may not be gifted in connection with any marketing, advertising, or promotional activities not approved by Skyhour and may not be sold to third parties.


What is the after sales policy for the RIMOWA + Skyhour case?
Due to the nature of this innovative collaboration, the RIMOWA + Skyhour case is non-refundable (final sale) and the usual RIMOWA returns policy does not apply. Included in this package is the aluminum RIMOWA Original Cabin in silver. No other suitcase style or color is available under the RIMOWA + Skyhour collaboration.


Are there other restrictions applicable to Skyhour vouchers?

Skyhour vouchers cannot be combined with any other gift cards, certificates, coupons, or other vouchers. We currently ship everywhere in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as other countries (for a full list, please select your ship to country).

Here’s how it works: You place an order online, then we process it. Your package will ship out from our warehouse in 1 business day. If selecting free UPS Ground shipping, orders placed by 2pm EST will be shipped same day (except on Saturday and Sunday). Delivery is expected within 3-5 business days. If selecting UPS Express Shipping, orders placed by 2pm EST Mon-Fri will arrive by 4pm local time the following business day.
Please note our warehouse is closed on major holidays, orders placed on those days will be shipped the following business day.

We offer free UPS Ground for all orders over $500 to everywhere in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. We also offer UPS Next Day Air for a flat fee of $50.

The extremely durable, premium quality aluminium-magnesium alloy we use for all our suitcases is fully recyclable. With naturally occurring corrosion resistant qualities, we incorporate an additional high-end anodization layering procedure which makes our suitcases particularly robust. Undeniably timeless, the resilience of this remarkable metallic material is part of the reason we’ve dedicated so many years to nurturing its potential. Built for life’s journeys, our aluminium suitcases are a work in progress, made by our hands but defined by those who travel with them. Hallmarked with the inevitable dents and scratches of time, every RIMOWA is vehicle for storytelling. As individual as a fingerprint, each record on its surface is a memory, a story, and a physical representation of its owner’s character.

Polycarbonate - A transparent, virtually unbreakable plastic, polycarbonate was first patented in 1953. An essential component used in the production of body armor and bulletproof glass, its chemical structure allows it to absorb an incredible amount of force. For RIMOWA, it means the outer shell of our extremely light, but highly durable polycarbonate cases can also react elastically under load and yield, so when the external pressure diminishes, they simply spring back to their original shape. As the first company to design and manufacture polycarbonate suitcases, we take our production standards very seriously. With two seals in place for safety and long-term quality from the German inspection organization TÜV, and with thermal resistance proven in controlled temperatures of +125°C to -100°C, this magnificent material makes our luggage hard-wearing, robust and recyclable.


Your Rimowa suitcase is a high quality product which has been produced exclusively in one of our workshops located in Germany, Canada or Czech Republic.
