A look at: RIMOWA at Hypefest

When big names with loyal fan bases collide, magic happens. Last weekend was no different when aficionados of both RIMOWA and Italian streetwear label Off-White™ flocked to the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York for the much-anticipated unveiling of the brands’ second product collaboration at HYPEBEAST’s first-ever culture festival Hypefest.

Following the exceptionally successful launch of their first collaboration consisting of a transparent polycarbonate case with black accents based on the RIMOWA Essential Cabin S carry-on case, RIMOWA and Off-White™ founder Virgil Abloh joined forced again to launch a new, coveted luggage collaboration.

Showcased as part of a luggage carousel-style exhibition designed by Off-White™ founder Virgil Abloh titled “See Through”, a handful of Off-White™ x RIMOWA suitcases by the same name turned heads as they rushed by, packed tight with colour-curated objets trouvés of Virgil’s own designs and project objects.

A brand all about creating the covetable from the mundane, Off-White™ has banked on irony. While the transparent cases are based on the RIMOWA Essential, due to their transparent design they have no interior lining and instead include the Flex- Divider system in black or white, a black or white case cover with the Off-White™ striped design, and a set of black or white cotton “Miscellaneous” bags for more efficient – and modest – packing. The cases are fitted with RIMOWA’s silent Multiwheel system for optimum manoeuvrability, TSA combination locks, a new custom Off-White™ Industrial Luggage Belt, and an exclusive transparent amenity kit containing an additional set of orange wheels.
